This unique training aide will enable quick and easy demonstration of aiming off. It is double sided allowing for right-to-left wind, and also left-to-right wind estimation. There is a high level of craft ability required for this, but a number of these printed out for a Skill at Arms training box should last for years if well looked after.
Equipment
- 3 pieces of A4 white card (or A3, the aide will scale up)
- Printer (colour preferable)
- Laminator
- 2 laminating pouches
- Craft knife, cutting board, cutting ruler (to protect fingers)
- Scissors
- Double sided adhesive tape
- Paper glue (like Pritt Stick)
Instructions (these are included in the PDF document)
Print pages 1-3 of this document onto white card, single sided.
Stick pages 1 and 2 (with the three targets on them) back to back. Only apply glue in strips to the top edge, bottom edge, and a strip across the middle.
Place these two sheets, now stuck together, into a laminator pouch and laminate them. Make sure your laminator can cope with the double thickness of two sheets of card. If not, you may want to print these on paper instead.
Cut out the two foresight aides from page 3, keeping them on the guides at the bottom. You will want to be careful to cut out the foresight blade.
Place both foresight aides onto the second laminating sheet, making sure no parts overlap, and laminate them.
Cut out the laminated foresight aides, this time because of the transparent laminating pouch, you can leave some plastic around the foresight blade to protect it.
On the laminated target sheet, on the front page (Wind L to R) you will see three grey bands at the bottom. Thses are cut marks. Carefully cut through these lines, making sure you cut all the way through both sheets.
With the tip of the blade on the craft knife, carefully open up the incisions and make sure the target sheets aren’t stuck together around the incision. This is where you will insert the foresight guide.
Making sure you have the correct foresight aide, insert the PULL HERE end through the loop of card made by your double incision, and slide the aide towards the [4] aiming mark.
Now feed the STOP end of the aide into the final incision which is the one beyond the [1] aiming mark.
Repeat for each side of the target.
Finally, apply a small square of double sided tape to the PULL HERE handle, and stick both foresight aides together.
